Doominants protect the Evil Character from poison and discard, and are super-effective against water-type Pokemon!Hey again! This article shall be about...Cake...moist delicious....No wait...That isn't it...O yes it was Dominants.

Abnormal uses and how to thwart others Dominants, to be exact!

First lets see each Dominants and it's basic function.

Follow up:

Evil:

  • Destruction of Nehushtan(DoN): Discard and negate one active Artifact in play.
  • Burial: Discard one Lost Soul in play.
  • Falling away(FA): Select any Redeemed Soul and return card to your Land of Bondage. Character is treated as a Lost Soul. Subtract the rescue from appropriate player's current score.
  • Christian Martyr(CM): Discard one Hero in play.
  • Doubt: hehe...Doubt...Ahem: Place in any territory. When played, this card becomes an orange brigade 0/12 Evil Character until end of turn.

Good:

  • Son of God/man(SoG): Rescue any Lost Soul in play.
  • New Jerusalem(NJ): Play this card simultaneously with the Son of God card and rescue any additional Lost Soul in play.
  • Angel of the Lord(AotL): Discard one Evil Character in play.
  • Guardian of your Souls(GoyS): Place this card in your Land of Redemption. Once there, Redeemed Soul(s) in your Land of Redemption cannot Fall Away.
  • Harvest Time(HT): If your opponent has no Lost Soul in play, select a Lost Soul card from his draw pile and put it into his Land of Bondage.
  • Glory of the Lord:Place in territory. Holder's Solomon's Temple and the Artifact in it cannot be discarded or negated by an opponent. Discard this card if Asherah Pole is in holder's Solomon's Temple.

We'd like to remind you that Dominants cannot talk to you. If they DO talk to you we strongly urge you to disregard their advice.

Okay, now some of these cards have no true way of being abused or thwarted. Like Guardian of your Souls. But here is how to thwart the rest:

  • Burial: Pretty simple, Play HT if you have it or a card to search for a Lost Soul card using a play-first character.
  • DoN: Put up an annoying Artifact. Wanna keep your Chariot of Fire alive? Keep David's Harp up to keep recurring Heroes. Eventually they may use DoN on it.
  • Falling away: Have GoyS out, that is about it.
  • CM: Band, use a protected-from-discard person, OR use a protection-from-discard Artifact (Covenant with Phinehas).
  • Doubt: Poor poor Doubt, Use a battle winner that says any or all Evil Characters.
  • Son of God: Altar of Ahaz, New Testament(NT)-only Lost Soul, or the */4 Lost Soul.
  • NJ: Women-only Lost Soul, NT-only Lost Soul, */4-Lost Soul, and Altar of Ahaz.
  • AOTL: Band, use Unknown Nation or use a protected-from-discard Evil Character.
  • GOYS: Can't be thwarted.
  • Glory of the Lord: Chariots of the Sun. That is about it at this time.
  • HT: Have a Lost Soul in your Land of Bondage.

Your Dominants will not threaten to stab you and, in fact, cannot speak.

Now some cool combos with Dominants you may or may not of thought of before.

Burial-based combos:
Have a captured Hero you want back?
Activate David's Harp (Following a rescue attempt holder may select one Hero that is about to be discarded and place Hero on top of owner's draw pile.) then make a rescue attempt, Bury the hero then use David's Harp to put him or her back on top!

Have Son of God and NJ but only one Lost Soul out? Bury their Lost Soul, use Harvest Time or a Lost Soul search card (You played first with some ability) to pull out the Lost Souls card then rescue it with SOG/NJ!

Have a pesky Lost Soul you can't rescue? Burial and Harvest Time will help. A variant on this is to use the "Exchanger" to steal a Lost Soul of theirs, bury your own "Revealer", then use HT. You get a Lost Soul to rescue...and lose one yourself!

CM based combos:
Need a Lost Soul to rescue? If you have a Hero with the ability "When this card is discarded, place in your opponent's Land of Bondage and treat as a Lost Soul." Band to that Hero and CM it. Instant Lost Soul!

Need initiative? CM your own Hero if you need to so you can play your devastating battle winners!

Falling Away combos:
Fall-Away your own "Speed Bump" (or your opponent's) to stop a rescue attempt with 11 cards or more in their hand.

DoN combos:
DoNing your own Artifact so you can do a fun combo (e.g. You have Blue Tassles up stopping capture, and Potiphar's Wife down with Temptation in hand.) is always unexpected, so is using another Artifact killer such as Lying unto God.

DOUBT COMBOS:
None...Naw I'm kidding, I love Doubt.
Placing Doubt in your territory to use for choose the blocker, then playing a shuffle (Blessings for Obedience) card so you can reuse Doubt.

SOG/NJ based combos:
Rescuing "Shuffler" with NJ and SoG some other Lost Soul to stop a rescue attempt.

AotL based combos:
AotL your own Evil Character to make a Lost Soul or gain initiative.

HT:
Shown in other combos above

GoyS: none

Glory: none.

Hope you enjoyed this random trip into the fun world of dominant based combos!

Please enjoy the cake.
