About Holder's Heroes
March 22nd, 2007Holder’s Heroes is a community-driven project to develop Redemption strategy. Anyone may submit articles for publication regarding strategy, deck-building, killer combos, or other information that will be beneficial to the Redemption playing community. People can also submit comments to add information to other published articles. I reserve the right to edit for spelling, grammar and clarity but will not in any way alter the substance of a submitted article. This is your blog just as much as it is mine.
Like many Cactus endeavors, this blog will require people to register, one time, with your real name in your profile. I also expect visitors to conduct themselves with Christian grace and charity. No questionable language will be allowed, and this site carries a low tolerance for flaming. Objectionable posts will be deleted without comment, and repeat offenders will be asked to leave. I trust it will not come to that.
Most of all, I want people to use this site to grow in their knowledge of Redemption, grow in fellowship with each other, and grow the Redemption community. Please enjoy yourselves and feel free to contribute at your leisure. Anyone who wishes to submit an article, email me and I will enable you to do so.
Contributors
March 21st, 2007The Schaef - Stephen M. Schaefer has been playing Redemption since around 2000, and has been a playtester since 2004. He is the editor of Holder's Heroes, and the webmaster for Redemption Nexus.
Xerosplash - Eric Largent is an old man by Redemption standards, starting when the game came out. He started going to the national tournament in 1999, and hasn't stopped since. The past four years (the entirety of his Type 2 career), he has placed in the top 3 in Type 2 2-player, including a first place victory in 2003.
the eternal student - Jim Woolcott has been playing Redemption since 2002, and been playing in tournaments since 2004. Since May of 2004 he has moderated the off-topic section of the official Redemption bulletin board. He began hosting tournaments in 2005, and became a playtester in September of 2005.
darcyj2 - Darcy (D.J.) Abbott began collecting Redemption back in 1995, and after a short hiatus, started back up just before the 2002 National Tournament. Since then, he has become a playtester in 2005, hosts tournaments, sells the game and has a great rivalry with Xerosplash in Type 2 play. He placed 2nd in 2005 Nationals Type 2 (both categories) and tied for 2nd in Type 1, Multi-Player. His website is Rescuer's Choice.
Redemption Rocks - Joshua D. Kopp is a BBQ flavored (seasoned) player of about 5-6 years. He currently is working on perfecting the less-than-legendary, but nevertheless weird, "Heroless" deck. His website is Redemption Heroless which is currently hosted at Captain of the Host
TheClock - Benjamin Arp has played Redemption since August of 1998, including trips to three national tournaments. By the age of 15, he had placed first in RNRS for Type 1 Multi-player, and hosted a state tournament. He has played against and beaten some legendary players like Josh Hey, Tim Maly, Justin Alstad, Chuck Norris, etc. Beating Chuck Norris was especially hard; he had to challenge him when he was asleep, drunk, and beaten up. He barely won, 5-4.5.
sdw12umdjc - Sean Wenzel has been a collector of Redemption for nearly all of its existence. Over the years, he has built and played many different decks as the pool of cards has slowly been increased with each expansion. Sean began playing actively after finding the official message board for Redemption. He is now active in Maryland and occasionally travels to adjacent states to play in tournaments.
thestrongangel - Nick Goodner uses the same avatar as Kirk Dennison. He also needs to send me something to place in this slot.
BrianGabe - Brian "Gabe" Isbell has been playing CCGs since 1995. He played competitively for several years although he recently took an extended break from CCGs. He heard about Redemption in early 2006 and was immediately hooked.
the_Roc - Ehren Wessel, who has been playing since 2001, is a serious competitor in tournaments now. He is the maker of Upload, the quintessential splash deck, and will gladly play an RTS game with you on the weekends.
mnpaladin - Jack Westman has been playing Redemption since around 2001, and has been playing seriously in tournaments since 2003. He mainly enjoys playing Type 1-2 player, Type 2-2 player, and Booster Draft. He has attended Nationals in '05, '06, and will be attending Nats '07. Right now he is trying to become a more well-known Redemption player, in perhaps the hardest state to do so in.
